FUD-7010E Analysis System Developed by Fuji Film for the Study and Analysis of Fuji Uvscale Photosensitive UV Films

FUD-7010E - Analysis System for Uvscale Film: Overview

As detailed on other pages of this section, the Uvscale photosensitive film has the unique property of "coloring" in varying shades of blue, which are dependent on the level of UV surface irradiation to which it is exposed. The distribution and density of the developed coloration are determined by the "mapping" of the applied phenomenon and its intensity, respectively. scala colorimetrica Uvscale Film The Uvscale photosensitive film typically comes with a set of instructions that includes a reference colorimetric table. This table is used for visual comparison to evaluate the phenomenon recorded by the Uvscale film. For most applications, this methodology is generally considered sufficiently reliable and accurate for assessing the results obtained. However, there may be situations where visual assessment is not adequate or sufficiently repeatable. In such cases, additional needs—often related to qualitative checks—may require documented measurements managed as a historical record. This record serves as a baseline for internal production comparisons, helping to identify any trends in the controlled production process and, within certain margins, predict potential issues that may need correction. Logo Sistema di Analisi FUD-7010E For the cases described or situations where more in-depth analysis of the exposed Uvscale films is required for study and research purposes, the FUD-7010E analysis system developed by Fuji Film Japan can be used. The analysis methodology involves "scanning" the exposed Uvscale films using a scanner that has been pre-calibrated to match the expected blue density values for Uvscale films. The digitized images can be stored (as a measurement history) on the hard disk of the PC where the FUD-7010E software is installed and can then be analyzed using the system's capabilities, which are described in more detail below. The FUD-7010E system includes image acquisition and analysis software (usable on Windows™ platforms), a special scanner cover, a calibration sheet (necessary for scanner setup), an instruction manual, and a license/agreement for use. The scanner compatible with the FUD-7010E is a commercially available device, and it can be purchased separately.

FUD-7010E - Analysis System for Uvscale Film: Usage Instructions

As shown in the sequence of photos below, using the FUD-7010E System is very simple. Prepare the previously exposed Uvscale film, ensuring it is clean of liquids, dust, or particles. Then, properly position it on the scanner (also following the suggestions provided in the manual). Digitize the exposed Uvscale film as an electronic image and save it to the hard drive of the PC where the FUD-7010E system software is installed. Proceed with the subsequent analyses.

FUD-7010E - Analysis System for Uvscale Film: Features

As also evident from the related documentation, Uvscale films exposed to the analyzed phenomenon should be stored carefully, following the detailed guidelines provided in the reference literature. By utilizing the digital imaging capability offered by the FUD-7010E system, it is certainly possible to protect the exposed films from degradation caused by time, light, humidity, and potential accidental exposures (which could alter or "cover" the originally recorded event). This allows for stable and non-deteriorating storage of the results from the conducted tests, creating a historical record for future comparison. In addition to this crucial function of preserving measurements taken with Uvscale film, the FUD-7010E software provides another significant advantage: the system is capable of interpreting the results of the tests much more repeatably and accurately than can be achieved by simple visual comparison with the provided colorimetric chart. Beyond these important features, the FUD-7010E software offers a range of tools useful for further and more detailed analysis of the exposed films and for simplifying their interpretation. A concise list of these features is provided below.

OVERALL MEASUREMENT

Once the image is available in electronic format, it will be possible to proceed with various valuable assessments. Notably, these include: the percentage of the surface affected by contact, the average and maximum pressure values recorded, the area of contact actually impressed, and more. Such important information can be obtained for the entire image or for specific and segmented areas within it.

PARTIAL ENLARGEMENT

If it's necessary to view or analyze specific (or very small) areas of the image under examination (as described earlier), you can zoom in on the area of interest. The user can specify a region within the digitized image and select from various magnification levels (x 4, x 8, and x 16).

PRESSURE CROSS SECTION

Thanks to this feature offered by the FUD-7010E system, users can specify any point on the digitized image. The system then "completes" this user-defined point with intersecting lines at the defined point and in the upper and left areas, graphically displaying the respective pressure modules identified by the lines added by the system relative to the user-defined point(s).

WIRE FRAME

Among the additional features, the FUD-7010E system also allows for three-dimensional visualization of the measurements taken with the Uvscale, which can be displayed in either monochromatic or color modes. Users can change the perspective of the obtained 3D rendering in four main directions, facilitating the examination of specific areas of the visualization, including those that are less accessible.

POLAR COORDINATES SOFTWARE

By viewing the image through the software section dedicated to managing polar coordinates, additional interesting functionalities can be accessed. Once the origin of the polar coordinates is defined, it is possible to generate diagrams such as "cross-sections" with an angle defined by the user, or "circular" diagrams, and finally, histograms can also be created.

PRESSURE COLOUR BAR SETUP

Among the additional features offered by the FUD-7010E system is the ability to modify the original color correspondence (in other words, the range of magentas provided by the Uvscale film) with other color ranges defined by the user. Utilizing this capability allows users to view different pressure gradations recorded in a manner more easily perceptible to the human eye.
